Northern Iowa: Buy

I was surprised to see the Panthers (12-2, No. 79 KenPom) lose their Missouri Valley opener at Illinois State, but I’m still a believer. Their win at Colorado on Dec. 10 looks even better now that the Buffaloes just beat Oregon on that same court. UNI’s only other loss was to West Virginia in Mexico. The Panthers have no freshmen in their starting lineup, they’re ranked 36th in the country in 3-point percentage and they lead the Valley in made 3s per game (9.6). They also have three players who are making 40 percent or better from behind the arc, and from what I’ve seen they have a great fighting spirit. If the Panthers can avoid too many losses in conference play, they’d have a shot at an at-large bid should they fail to win Arch Madness.
