Looking at the week ahead: Hope you’re prepared; the regular season is nearly over.
Belmont, Lipscomb and Tennessee State all just have two games left
and what’s left to accomplish is getting the best seed possible for the
conference tournaments.
— Belmont appears to be heading for a fifth-place
finish, which means the Bruins will be playing an extra game in the MVC
Tournament. The top four teams get a bye into the quarterfinals.
Belmont (17-12, 10-8) trails Southern Illinois (19-10, 11-7) by a
game for that final bye. The team’s split during the regular season.
Belmont finishes with a road game at Murray State (12-17, 9-9)
Wednesday and a home game against Evansville (15-14, 6-12) Sunday. SIU
goes to Bradley (20-9, 12-6) and hosts Northern Iowa (16-13, 10-8) in
its final two games.
If the two teams are tied, the second tiebreaker is record against
the first-place team, Indiana State. SIU split its two games with the
Sycamores while Belmont was swept.
