Belmont, Lipscomb and Tennessee State all just have two games left and what’s left to accomplish is getting the best seed possible for the conference tournaments.
— Belmont appears to be heading for a fifth-place finish, which means the Bruins will be playing an extra game in the MVC Tournament. The top four teams get a bye into the quarterfinals.
Belmont (17-12, 10-8) trails Southern Illinois (19-10, 11-7) by a game for that final bye. The team’s split during the regular season.
Belmont finishes with a road game at Murray State (12-17, 9-9) Wednesday and a home game against Evansville (15-14, 6-12) Sunday. SIU goes to Bradley (20-9, 12-6) and hosts Northern Iowa (16-13, 10-8) in its final two games.
If the two teams are tied, the second tiebreaker is record against the first-place team, Indiana State. SIU split its two games with the Sycamores while Belmont was swept.
