NBA Summer League 2017: All the mid-major players to make the cut--Mid-Major Madness
With the NBA Draft now in the rearview mirror, it’s time to turn our attention to 2017 NBA Summer League, as dozens of players battle it out in Orlando, Utah, and Las Vegas to try and earn their way onto NBA rosters. It all starts on July 1 in Orlando and continues through the 17th. Over the next few days, all 30 NBA teams will release their rosters, and most will include at least a couple mid-major alumni. We’ll track them all for you right there. ... Brooklyn Nets: Milton Doyle — Loyola-Chicago ... Memphis Grizzlies: Jeremy Morgan — Northern Iowa Wes Washpun — Northern Iowa ... Miami Heat: Jake Odum — Indiana State

Coach Paul Lusk says Ronnie Rousseau is happy, back on campus and smiling once again. Two weeks ago, Lusk appeared on the MVC coaches’ conference call. Here is what he had to say when I asked him about Ronnie’s return to campus: “It’s been a very smooth transition. He’s a big part of what we were doing. We are thrilled to have him back. We’ve been in classes for about a week. He is very fun to coach and he’s a great worker. We expect him to have a very good season. We are excited to have him … he’s a very good player and it’s been great to have him back. It’s great to see him smiling again, and he’s in a really good place.” Wow. That’s excellent news for the Bears and their fans. If Ronnie is able to come back and run the point for MSU in 2017, there’s not a doubt in my mind they finish first or second in the MVC. Alize Johnson is the best player in the conference, and if he has a point guard (Ronnie) who is capable of getting him the ball, scoring on his own and keeping the offense flowing, he becomes even more dangerous. If a full season of basketball is played by Johnson and Rousseau, I expect the duo to combine for 35 points a game. The pick-and-roll action on one side of the floor will be lethal.
