No. 11 Drake over No. 6 Missouri
Drake has been one of the very best teams in the country all season long going back to its victory in the Charleston Classic before Thanksgiving, where it knocked off Vanderbilt in the title game. That was one of 30 wins for the Bulldogs, who continue to be ruthlessly efficient behind the play of star guard Bennett Stirtz. The nation’s leader in minutes is one of the best playmakers and scorers in this tournament, potentially causing major problems for Missouri’s defense.
That’s because Missouri’s defense has been rather bad of late. The Tigers rank 203rd in AdjD over the last month, per Torvik, giving up an average of 89.1 points per game over that stretch. They have been elite offensively, which has helped mask some of those defensive issues, but those issues caused them to go 2-6 down the stretch.
Drake is looking for a win to validate its season under first-year head coach Ben McCollum while Missouri is trending in the wrong direction.
