MVC/OVC Outstanding Women’s Performances--Valley Hoops Insider

Poock Outshines All Others

(St. Louis, MO) – Two players are racking up outstanding women’s performances and weekly awards, but this week Murray State’s Halli Poock  was spectacular. Evansville’s Camryn Runner and Western Illinois’ Mia Nicastro have each received a third weekly award.

Northern Iowa (15th), Southern Indiana (18th), Belmont (19th) and Drake (24th) are ranked among CollegeInsider.com’s ‘Mid-Major Top-25’.

Players of the Week

Poock scored 30 points in one game on the way to a 21.5 point scoring average during two Murray State wins. The Valley’s ‘Player of the Week’ has scored 72 points over her last three games and ranks sixth in the MVC’s scoring race (17.6 ppg).

Newcomer Outstanding Women’s Performances

Bradley (5-2) won its only game last week and senior Soleil Barnes scored 19 points, grabbed six rebounds and handed out seven assists. The Valley’s ‘Newcomer of the Week’ (Toledo transfer) is having a solid all-round season, averaging 14 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.4 assists.

Freshmen of the Week

Evansville’s Runner grabbed her third ‘Freshman of the Week’ award by reaching the twenty-point mark for the fourth time this season. During her 21-point performance against SIUE is now third nationally in made free throws (77).
