- In terms of the mid-majors (as we often call them), what about teams like Drake and Loyola-Chicago from the Missouri Valley? Could either be an at-large team? While both have solid NET ratings right now (Drake 11 and Loyola 30), team sheets tell a tougher story. And this is where the delayed start and lack of non-conference options due to COVID could be a challenging obstacle. Drake’s best two wins are Indiana State (122), and an early victory over Kansas State doesn’t help much. Loyola missed chances against Wisconsin and Richmond, leaving the Ramblers with a win over the same Indiana State team (plus a loss to them) and a win over North Texas as its best assets. Given the Valley’s schedule, Drake hosts Loyola-Chicago twice in mid-February. FWIW, Missouri State is the other MVC team currently ranked in the Top 100 of the NET.
