Northern Iowa (20-3, 11-2; NET: 34, SOS: 106): Wednesday’s eight-point win over a struggling Illinois State team might not strike you as a particularly convincing scoreline, but it was a very UNI one: The game was never really in doubt. With minimal exception, the class of the Missouri Valley doesn’t totally blow people out, Gonzaga-style. The Panthers are a bit more methodical, and altogether less spectacular, but the whole thing very much works. Anyway, Saturday’s trip to Loyola Chicago is one to seek out; at least in theory, it’s UNI’s toughest fixture of the league season.
