3. CINCINNATI DOMINATES DRAKE

I thought that the Bulldogs were going to have the horses to run with Cincinnati, that their shooting and they weapons offensively would allow them to keep it close against a team that is turnover over so much in their program.

That didn’t happen.

Cincinnati jumped out to a 42-18 lead and cruised to a 22-point victory despite getting just 11 points from their All-American Jarron Cumberland. They shot 51.7 percent from the floor and hit 11 threes.

This is certainly a far cry from the performance that we saw out of the Bearcats on the opening night of the season, a 64-56 loss at Ohio State.

2 – Loyola Chicago – The ramblers are 1-1 on the season. They beat UC Davis by a large margin in Chicago, and lost to Furman on the road by a large margin. With an upcoming schedule of Coppin State, Saint Joe’s, and IUPUI all at Gentile Arena I feel like it will be difficult to judge who this team really is until they get into the Cayman Islands Classic Tournament with teams like USF, New Mexico State, and George Mason. One thing to note is Loyola Chicago has managed only four fast break points in two games.

...
Missouri State, the Valley favorite, suffered a shocking loss of their own at the hands of Little Rock, a lower tier Sun Belt squad. Highly touted JUCO recruit Gaige Prim missed the game for the Bears, but Dana Ford’s uber-talented squad had no excuse dropping this one. The Bears followed up the lackluster effort by struggling to put away Alabama State, a SWAC school with no business competing against a Missouri Valley title contender, at least on paper. Small sample size results should be taken with a grain of salt, but it appears MO State may have one of those “frustratingly inconsistent” type of seasons.
