Belmont’s Ben Sheppard
had an explosive week. After scoring 16 points against Trevecca
Nazarene the 6’6 senior blew up with 33 points against Middle Tennessee.
The Bruins’ leading scorer connected eight times from long distance on
just nine attempts. This week’s Player of the Week is the Valley’s second leading scorer.
Illinois State won its second and third games in a row last week and fifth year transfer Colton Sandage
had a big hand in those wins. The Bloomington, Illinois native racked
up 28 points against Eastern Michigan and concluded the week with 16
during a win over Southern Illinois Edwardsville. This week’s Newcomer of the Week made 13 of 14 free throw attempts against Eastern Michigan.
