Bubble Watch: Penny Hardaway, Memphis and the problem with running out of time early--The Athletic
Others
Otherwise, this remains a very robust Others section, with plenty of interesting teams out there in mid-major land – teams like Chattanooga (NET: 46), North Texas (57), and Missouri State (60) that look like quality outfits even if they don’t have at-large worthy resumes. It’s a really good year down here.
Should be in: BYU, Loyola Chicago, Colorado State
Loyola Chicago (14-3, 5-1; NET: 26, SOS: 121): Loyola is currently in the “just don’t lose too much in league play” portion of its season, one its players will be very familiar with by this point. Fortunately for Loyola, there is usually at least one other quality opponent in the Valley. This year, that opponent is Missouri State, which is 60th in the NET, 50th in KenPom, has lost to too many low-end teams, but which is a genuinely tough squad that just come up with a 10-point win at Gentile Arena thanks to a 40-point, 14-of-22 night from Isiaih Mosley. This is hardly a disaster. The disasters happen elsewhere in this league, and as long as the Ramblers avoid most of them, they’ll remain on the track for the tourney.
