Explosive Stars of the Valleys--Valley Hoops Insider
Missouri Valley Conference
Indiana State’s Cooper Neese is one of the explosive stars of the Valleys. After granting Valley Hoops Insider an interview, the 6’4 junior then scored 75 points during the Sycamore’s next three games. They won two of them with Neese tallying 35 & 28 points. The Valley’s ‘Player of the Week’ is now fourth in the league’s scoring race (16.1 ppg) and fifth in triples-per-game (2.3 per game).

Mikey Howell is emerging as a go-to player in the Bradley lineup. While the Braves were earning huge home wins against Loyola and Drake, the 6’3 UC San Diego transfer earned more playing time scoring 14 and 12 points to nudge the Braves into MVC title contention. BU (15-11, 9-5) is two games out of first place and Howell is the league’s ‘Newcomer of the Week‘.

Loyola Chicago (18-5, 10-3; NET: 27, SOS: 107): Confession: When we first saw that Loyola had lost at Bradley, we assumed the Ramblers had taken a particularly bad defeat. Not so much, it turns out. Bradley’s low-90s NET number makes that a Quadrant 2 defeat, not unlike plenty suffered by teams with far less quality on their resume than this team. Despite the difficulties of navigating the Valley — which can deal you tough losses in the best of times, and which is a hard league even if the teams in it don’t have healthy NET numbers beside their names — Loyola remains in a good place to get a bid.
